Suject- Verb Agreement

I apparently stink at subject -verb agreement due to what my rhetorical paper said so I am going to do my grammar post on it. I really do not even know what subject-verb agreement is. I know I must have learned it, but in the process of remembering so many other rules I just forgot it. It is probably the reason why I did not check it in my paper, because if i would I have I would have not gotten those points knocked off for it.

Subject -verb agreement is basically what the term says that the subject of the sentence needs to agree with the action.

For Example:
Singular subjects need singular verbs
plural subjects need plural verbs.

My brother is a nutritionist.

My sisters are mathematicians.

In these two sentences the verb and the subject agree with each other. In the first sentence brother is singular so there for the verb is singular too. Then in the second sentence sisters is plural so the verb, are, is plural as well.

These are not the only rules that come with subject -verb agreement, there is much more.

  1. I struggled with subject-verb agreement a lot in high school. Fortunately, that was a very long time ago. All I can say is, it gets better the more you write and read. My big thing now is to increase my vocabulary to enhance my writing. Good post.
